With one of my favorite Holidays right around the corner, one thing I always get excited for is putting together a costume for all of the Halloween festivities. The store bought costumes can get a bit pricey and let's admit it, they are bit overrated to spend all of that money to wear it one time and then sit in your closet. This is the time to let your creative juices flow and to see what you can create yourself. Pull together items you already have in your closet or around your house to create a one of a kind costume that you KNOW no one else will be wearing at the party!

One easy DIY costume  that you can create at home is this masquerade costume. All you really need for this is a masquerade mask which you can find for really cheap like this one that is less than $10. I channeled my inner Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl for this look with a navy romper and statement jacket, and added a pair of trendy sock boots to finish off the outfit. Since the weather always keeps us guessing on Halloween, take the jacket off if it is still warm out.

Keep an eye out to see how Jaclyn from Beauty and the Binky styles her DIY masquerade costume for a more delicate feminine look.

Fall Travel Essentials

This month is a busy traveling month for me, and that means lots of time sitting in airports/cars and exploring different cities. Each time I travel, I feel like I learn a new tip that will help me next time whether it be what to wear while traveling or what to pack. This time of year can be a  little bit tougher to pack for because we are in between hot and cold. I wanted to share some advice on the things I pack and travel in this time of year that may help relieve some of your stresses.

Comfortable Shoes:

I can't tell you how many times I have gone somewhere and packed an unnecessary amount of heels or "dressier" shoes, and have completely forgot to bring something comfortable for those casual exploring days. Make sure to toss in a pair of your most comfortable slides like these or another pair of comfortable shoes for those not so dressy days.

Go-to Jeans:

Jeans can be worn year round, so pack one or two pairs of your most comfortable jeans that you can pair with lots of different tops. This will save you some room in your suitcase and you can never go wrong with a good pair of denim!

Crossbody Bag:

Pack a crossbody bag that is a neutral color and will go with all of your outfits. You won't want to be lugging around your tote bag all day long when you are trying to browse in and out of stores or for a long day of walking. This crossbody bag from Vera Bradley is the perfect go with everything bag.

Lightweight Jackets for Layering:

The mornings may be cool but our days are still hot, so having a lightweight jacket that you can tie around your waist if you get too hot is perfect for traveling. These are also great to wear on the plane since you never know if it will be chilly.

Cozy Sweaters for Night:

Nights can get a little chillier, so pack a cozy sweater that you will be comfortable in and will keep you warm for trying out new restaurants or grabbing a drink on the patio.

I hope these tips help you on your next traveling adventure this fall!

We all know the rule that every girl should have a LBD (little black dress) in her closet that can be pulled out anytime and worn year round. Black dresses are a classic and can be worn for pretty much any occasion, which makes them a great item to have in your closet. This black dress from TOBI is so fun with the trendy lace up neckline. It is a stretchy cotton material which makes it super comfortable and fits true to size. I wanted to go for a trendy feminine look, so I paired it with my black sock booties and a jean jacket that can be worn over the dress or you can just drape it over your shoulders. Since the neckline makes such a statement, I downplay my accessories so that the dress can really standout.

Now off to finish up packing for our trip to New Orleans this weekend! Make sure to follow along on Instastories to see all of our adventures!
