So last week I was a bit of a mess........
I am a very introverted person and like to bottle things up until they get the best of me. Doing this causes a chain reaction of events that aren't the best for myself or for the loved ones in my life. I get snippy with TJ, I stress about every little thing, and by Friday I just want to curl up in a ball and break down because of all of the built up emotion. TJ and my family have been my rock when I am having those bad days. One thing that TJ has taught me is to always talk about it and to never bottle it up (even though I'm still guilty of doing this 95% of the time but I'm working on it alright!).
So after another long day at work yesterday, on my drive home I started to think "What can I do to turn my day around and put myself in a better mood?". I am guilty of trying to please everyone. From work to home and everywhere in between, I want everyone to be happy and sometimes that means putting myself second. So here are a couple of ideas I came up with that I am trying and that might help you also if you are in the same boat as me.
1. Take a deep breath and just pause for a split second
A lot of times we get caught up in all of our crazy busy lives and forget to take a second and just breath. If I am having a hectic work day, I will pause for a few minutes, take a deep breath, and think of all of the positive things in my life.
2. Just listen to the radio
If you had one of those days that you just want to scream and sitting in traffic is just not what you want to be doing, instead of calling everyone in your phone book turn on some positive upbeat music and take those 25 minutes for you. My favorite is to listen to the Meghan Trainor Pandora station!
3. Go on a walk and get fresh air
I don't care how hot it is, if I need a second to relax I love going on quick walks outside and leaving my phone behind.
4. It can wait, run a hot bath and pour a glass of wine
I am my biggest critic and sometimes think everything needs to be done 20 minutes ago so it doesn't put me in the best of moods. I love running a hot bath and throwing in a colorful bath bomb and just soaking with a glass of wine and my favorite scented candle. It's like having a spa in your own bathroom. Say it with me......ahhhhhh. Things can wait, go live (or relax) a little.
5. Buy yourself or someone in your life a present
Sometimes I like to justify working my life away by just buying pretty things..........let's face it I like my money where I can see it, hanging in my closet! Nothing makes you feel better in the mornings getting ready for work than to throw on that new dress you just got in the mail like the one I have on here! I always feel better when I feel put together. It's also fun to spoil the loved ones in your life and to show them appreciation for always being there for you even in the rough times and sending them a little surprise!
So to wrap up this post, I just want to say THANK YOU to TJ, my mom and dad, and Alexis for being there for me last week and letting me vent to you! I couldn't make it through this crazy thing called life without y'all and I am so blessed to have you all in my life! xoxo
